Whilst purchasing shorthorn bulls for my family property, Cowarie Station, Birdsville Track South Australia, I became aware of the difficulty in sourcing large numbers of bulls suitable for pastoral conditions. From this I decided to further develop my concept of breeding pastoral-designed cattle.

The aim of The Bank is to breed structurally sound efficient cattle that are designed for the tough pastoral country of Australia. There is now an opportunity for both commercial and stud breeders to purchase consistent lines of affordable efficient stud quality cattle.

The Bank was established in 2006with purchases from the renowned Belmore Shorthorn stud, South Australia and the process of breeding my own structurally correct pastoral-designed cattle began. In 2007, I inherited the family's diamond dot distinctive brand and the search for a stud name began. Ultimately, we settled on The Bank, the name of a large dam in the middle of a floodout plain on Cowarie. I felt this name complimented my brand 'diamond dot'. After all where better to put your diamonds than in a bank?

Buyers can expect to see consistent lines of functional cattle designed for pastoral conditions on the show circuit and at exhibitions throughout Australia.

The stud's foundation herd is a mixture of females purchased from Belmore, Bundaleer and Bayview shorthorn studs. 2008 saw the editions of sound females from Nero, SPJ, Belmore and Bayview studs.

At The Bank, we have created a foundation herd by using a consistent type from a variety of bloodlines, to eliminate the issue of bottlenecking.
